Its been a busy fall. Sorry for the delay in posting. Above is a nice steelhead taken on a swung fly on the Grand River very near dark. The Muskegon river is fishing better now with the recent precipitation. The Grand is fishing well too. Swung flies are still producing. Water is very clear on the Muskegon which adds to the mystery. That is all for now.
Pictured are Jeff and Mike with a steelhead from the bottom of the ninth today. It may not have been as big as the salmon, but we were all excited about it. Thanks guys! Egg patterns in pink and orange produced trout as well. I am seeing more steelhead every day.
Had a last minute trip with Jim from Alabama today. Trout fishing was pretty good. We managed to stay dry all morning. A fairly consistent rain fell today hopefully bringing the water level up. There are a select few trout that are looking up and rising. These are very picky fish that will take a well presented fly. Salmon are starting to show up, still a ways out yet.
Wanted to thank Brock and Kendra for a great day on the water yesterday. We virtually had the river to ourselves. Trout fishing with indicators in the morning proved to be pretty successful, however, the sun in the afternoon slowed fishing a bit. A few salmon are starting to make there way to the upper reaches of the Muskegon. We would love to see a bit of rain to increase the water level.
On a recent trip "thundersticking" for Salmon, we happened into this little guy. The bite was very slow, however, lots of fish are around. Small mouth Bass continue to be taking the leading role in my pursuits. Baitfish patterns both small and large have producing ,as well as, crayfish patterns.
