I'm Back....

So after a long pause, I am back to writing this blog.  We are in the depths of winter here in Michigan, but that does not slow us down.  Ice fishing was decent last week, with almost a limit on Bluegills.  On the liquid side of things, the swung fly game is still viable.  I got out with Kevin Feenstra last week and had a productive couple of hours.  Sculpins were getting action.

Report 8/6/14

Had a great morning throwing poppers for Small Mouth Bass.  Zudbubbler poppers are Hot right now.  With the consistent weather coming this week, the topwater bite should really turn on.  Pictured is Jim with a couple of dandy smallies.

Report 5/27/14

Warm weather has arrived. Rivers have a great level for this time of year. Still a few steelhead around select rivers. Trout fishing has been decent. Streamers have taken the bulk of bigger trout. Starting to see dry fly activity pick up. Pictured is an Upper Manistee brown trout.

Report 5/8/14

Its been a while since I reported. Steelhead fishing continues to be good, is starting to be on the downslope. Trout fishing is starting to take shape. Seeing some bug activity on the surface. Look for these warmer days to enhance this. Pictured is a nice Rogue river brown.

Report 2/1/14

I am in the depths of winter here. Finding out that xcountry skiing is a great way to pass the time as is snowplowing the driveway twice a day. I took a drive by the Rogue river the other day and found it to be frozen solid. Pictured is looking upstream from Rogue river dr. bridge. Muskegon river is offering up some steelhead and winter trout fishing can be decent with some patience. Hang in there, winter is almost over.

Report 10/29/13

Catching up on the reports...fishing has been good lately. Sunday I had a Feenstra Guide Service trip. A great father and son duo who really enjoyed being outside. The day started with a few chunky trout to hand, then a couple salmon and a chrome steelhead to finish off the day. Steelhead fishing will only get better from here on out until winter comes.

Report 10/8/13

Simply put...salmon are big this year. Pictured is 12 year old Takka with his 22lb family record salmon. Good numbers of salmon are available. Some big ones around too. Seeing some active trout behind spawning salmon.
