Report 2/1/14

I am in the depths of winter here. Finding out that xcountry skiing is a great way to pass the time as is snowplowing the driveway twice a day. I took a drive by the Rogue river the other day and found it to be frozen solid. Pictured is looking upstream from Rogue river dr. bridge. Muskegon river is offering up some steelhead and winter trout fishing can be decent with some patience. Hang in there, winter is almost over.

Report 10/29/13

Catching up on the reports...fishing has been good lately. Sunday I had a Feenstra Guide Service trip. A great father and son duo who really enjoyed being outside. The day started with a few chunky trout to hand, then a couple salmon and a chrome steelhead to finish off the day. Steelhead fishing will only get better from here on out until winter comes.

Simply put...salmon are big this year. Pictured is 12 year old Takka with his 22lb family record salmon. Good numbers of salmon are available. Some big ones around too. Seeing some active trout behind spawning salmon.

Report 8/9/13

Spent a wonderful day on the Muskegon river with Frank and his son Mark.  Both were new to fly fishing, but really enjoyed themselves.  Water is low and clear, but the bass were willing participants.  Streamers were the ticket today.

Report 8/6/13

40's at night and a high of 50f on my birthday(July 27). What a crazy summer. Hasn't slowed fishing down. Bass fishing continues to produce on the Grand and Muskegon. Summer steelhead are making appearances in select systems. Trout fishing is continuing to hang in there with the cooler evening temps bringing water temps down.
Looking forward to heading to Belize in September to chase bonefish, permit, and tarpon. Got the new Simms flats boots in the mail the other day.
