Report 12/21/12

Its been a busy fall.  Sorry for the delay in posting.  Above is a nice steelhead taken on a swung fly on the Grand River very near dark.  The Muskegon river is fishing better now with the recent precipitation.  The Grand is fishing well too.  Swung flies are still producing.  Water is very clear on the Muskegon which adds to the mystery.  That is all for now.

Chrome Report 10-28-1

Just a quick report.  We found some fish that were eager to take our offerings today.  A perfect fall day!

10/26/12 Report

Pictured are Jeff and Mike with a steelhead from the bottom of the ninth today.  It may not have been as big as the salmon, but we were all excited about it. Thanks guys! Egg patterns in pink and orange produced trout as well.  I am seeing more steelhead every day.

Report 10/3/12

Had a last minute trip with Jim from Alabama today.  Trout fishing was pretty good.  We managed to stay dry all morning.  A fairly consistent rain fell today hopefully bringing the water level up.  There are a select few trout that are looking up and rising.  These are very picky fish that will take a well presented fly.  Salmon are starting to show up, still a ways out yet.

Thats all for now!

Report 9/29/12

Wanted to thank Brock and Kendra for a great day on the water yesterday.  We virtually had the river to ourselves.  Trout fishing with indicators in the morning proved to be pretty successful, however, the sun in the afternoon slowed fishing a bit.  A few salmon are starting to make there way to the upper reaches of the Muskegon.  We would love to see a bit of rain to increase the water level.

Report 9-5-12

On a recent trip "thundersticking" for Salmon, we happened into this little guy.  The bite was very slow, however, lots of fish are around.  Small mouth Bass continue to be taking the leading role in my pursuits.  Baitfish patterns both small and large have producing ,as well as, crayfish patterns.

Report 8/7/12

Was out fishing with friends on the Grand and caught this bad boy.  It always amazes me the different colors small mouth bass can be.  With the heat of July, the fishing slowed a bit.  However, August has brought much more reasonable temps in the evenings.

I am booking now for Fall trout, salmon, and steelhead trips.  Swung fly with single and two handed rods is the thing to do in November-December.

Report 7-6-12

Sorry I have not updated my blog in way too long.  Here are a few pics of what I have been to.  The weather as most of you know is extremely hot.  I have been fishing local inland lakes for blue gills which appear to be spawning.  Kind of a weird scenario since I always thought they spawned earlier.

Report 4/25/12

Took a day off to fish the Hodenpyl section of the Manistee River with some friends on Sunday.  Fishing was tough, but definitely a "Pure Michigan" type of day.

Catch-up!

Its been a bit since last post. I would normally say that we are in the dead of winter here, however, the fish above was caught on 1-14-2012. Since then we have not had any snow so to speak of. I spent the day with good friend, Eric, on the Pere Marquette. Fresh, heavy snowfall on all the trees made this an awesome float. The fish was a bonus, as well as, the lunch that Eric prepared. Indy-nymphing and swung fly are both working on various rivers at this time. Patience must be excercised!

Report 1-7-12

Happy New Year to all! Had an unexpected day off today and decided to take "me lady" steelhead fishing for the first time. With the weather being unseasonably warm and the lack of snow...it has me getting out more than usual in January. Pictured is Maegen with her first steelhead ever.
